Obama touts plan to create 2.5 mil. jobs

President-elect Barack Obama promised in his weekly radio address Saturday a two-year economic recovery plan that would boost federal spending on infrastructure and create 2.5 million jobs. He finished the day with dinner at the home of his friend and national finance chair Penny Pritzker.

Police said 16-year-old Jose Guiza was shot to death in the Avondale neighborhood Friday night in an apparent gang-related shooting. He was killed when a car pulled up to where he was standing on the 3000 block of North Albany. A man got out, started yelling gang slogans and shot Guiza, police said.

3 hurt in chain-reaction crash that starts fire

Three people were critically injured after a speeding car crashed into a parked car early Saturday near Midway Airport, causing a chain reaction that led to a car fire and damaged two nearby businesses. The accident happened around 2:40 a.m. at 5608 W. 63rd St. Police said a Honda Civic driven by Edgar Figueroa, 18, struck a Buick LeSabre parked on the street.
