Sioux victory has Wildcats eyeing trip to bowl The Big Ten dusk was a fading orange Saturday in Evanston. The new morning will bring horizons of sweeping southbound purple. With visions of a bowl game ''someplace warm'' as motivation, Northwestern seamlessly blended offensive wiles, defensive wills and a game-breaking 51-yard punt return by Brendan Smith early in the fourth quarter into a 27-10 victory against Illinois in the final battle for the Sweet Sioux Tomahawk.

Saturday's was a prime example. The Hawks claimed a 5-4 overtime victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs after overcoming 3-0 and 4-2 deficits. Dave Bolland scored the game-winner 49 seconds into the extra session.

Lifestyles Grab some winter fun Andrew Herrmann: You are roaring down the incline, snowflakes swirling, the winter wind whipping at your face. The trees blur by, a slight dip makes your stomach drop and, whoaaaa, are we airborne, bay-bee? There's nothing like ... No, not skiing. Tobogganing. For many of us here in the Midwest, winter is an endless darkness of clutching at our coat tops and cursing Mother Nature, that frigid witch. S'no fun, indeed.

Entertainment The land of the dreamers Bill Zwecker: Nicole Kidman sure knows how to enter a room. The flame-haired Oscar winner, looking regal and yet approachable, virtually floated into a cozy suite at the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel on a recent afternoon. When asked if she was channeling Lady Sarah Ashley, the aristocratic Englishwoman in her new film "Australia," Kidman lets out a very un-aristocratic, totally Aussie chortle.
